On June 11th and a hot middle of the afternoon, Lawrence firefighters arrived on scene with 2 3-story dwellings going good. Reports are the companies were out on another box alarm when this came in. Alarms level quickly went up to 6 alarms with water issues and broken hydrants in this very tightly stacked neighborhood. I know of 3 buildings and a garage completely destroyed and possible 6 more with damage to them.
A lot of mutual aid came into the city to fight this blaze. If it weren't for the hard work by all members, this could have easily turned into a conflagration.
I arrived just after the 6th alarm. I was just a bit too late to get some better photos.
