A lightning strike appears to have started this 2-bay attached garage fire on Upper North Row Rd. On arrival companies had a garage going good. Chief of Dept. David Hurlbut called for a 2nd alarm with tankers. This area of Town is a non-hydrant district. The nearest hydrant was about 1 mile away. Tankers from Hubbardston,Princeton and Holden responded along with 2 engines from Leominster, and Engine from Lancaster and Clinton. The home owner stated he was watching the storm when a loud crack was heard and and he found his garage on fire. The owner lost his Jeep and mowers inside and his pickup truck away from the garage was scorched from the intense heat.
