Lt. Jason Menard of Ladder Co. 5 LODD death. Lt Menard lost his life fighting a fire in a 2 1/2 story dwelling after saving the life of another firefighter Chris Pace by throwing him out from the window just before the top floor flashed over.
Thousands of firefighters as far as California were present. Funeral was at St.Johns Church on Temple St.
