Around 1330 hrs I got a page for a 2 alarm fire in Ashburnham. I left just as the 3rd was struck with the report of heavy fire and a propane tank problem. The fire was in a home owned by the Cushing Academy School. It was told to me teachers use this as a home. Heavy fire was out the back of the house on arrival of 3 full-time firefighters. They had to stretch the initial attack line and get a hydrant alone until help could arrive.
Mutual aid to the fire came from Winchendon, Gardner, Ashby and Fitchburg. Also Ridge NH and New Ipswich NH covered the town. The home is believed to be over 100 years old.
Also take the opportunity to chech out rcrphotos.com and firstdue.smugmug.com for more shots from this fire.
