Trooper Thomas Clardy a father of six was killed on March 16th 2016 after a traffic stop on the Mass Pike. Trooper Clardy 44, was working an extra shift when he pulled over a driver. Trooper Clardy was hit by a car that had been traveling at full speed and veered across three lanes of traffic and struck the rear of his cruiser sending it off the highway. Trooper Clardy was pronounced dead at UMass memorial Hospital in Worcester.

The driver a 30-year old male was injured and faces charges for negligent operation of a motor vehicle and possibly further charges. Trooper Clardy is survived by his wife and six children, ages 4-17.
