In the early afternoon Saturday October 10th calls were coming in for a house fire on Henry St. A full first alarm ws dispatched under the command of of Deputy Chief Mitch Pinault. As Deputy Pinault pulled out of fire headquarters he radioed fire alarm smoke was visible from the apron. On arrival, C-2 reported 3 story wood-frame building with heavy fire condition and exposure problems along with possible occupants still inside the building as he struck the 2nd alarm. Leominster Fire sent an Engine and Ladder to the fire and C-2 ordered Leominster to ladder the building and open up the roof. Numerous handlines were stretched to the 2nd and 3rd floors as a line on the D side was wetting down the heavily scorched porches. Just then a full collapse of the porches came crashing down as one fire Lt. had to move quickly away. A third alarm was struck bringing additional manpower and another Engine from Leominster to pump a hydrant a street over boosting the water supply.
In all 10 people were displaced from the blaze as it took 6 engines and 2 ladders 90 minutes to bring the fire under control.
