As temperatures dropped to the low teens thousands of Firefighters from all over the Country came to pay their respects to fallen Fire Lieutenant Kevin Kelley Ladder Co.26 who made the supreme sacrifice while in the performance of his duties on January 12th in the Mission Hill section of Boston. Kelley was 52 yrs old with 30 years with Boston Fire. Lt. Kelley and his company were returning from a medical when coming down a steep hill the rig apparently lost its brakes crashing though a brick wall and then into a building. Lt. Kelley lost his life - the driver sustained significant injuries and the two jakes riding sustained minor injuries. The accident remains under investigation as the Department is going through the entire fleet of apparatus looking for any types of problems. So far trucks have either been failing or they are finding many problems that are being addressed. To the Family of Lt. Kelley our sincere condolences. May he REST IN PEACE.
