A fast moving fire quickly went up the outside rear porch and extended into the attic of this 2 story duplex. Engine 3 which is less than a mile away made a fast attack being only a 3 man engine company. Lt Michael Marino and Ff William Bisol quickly stretched a 2 1/2 hand line to the rear of the dwelling as flames raced up the back.

The line was able to quickly knock down the heavy fire as the other companies arrived and made an attack via the front. Engine 4 (second due Engine) along with Rescue 1 crew, got up into the top floor opened up and were able to stop the spreading fire. Engine 2 and Rescue 2 were able to secure a water source for the crews operating. Ladder 1 was able to get to the roof and perform ventilation.

The families of both tenants were home at the time of the fire. No one was injured and the fire is under investigation. Mutual aid to the fire came from Fitchburg and Sterling as extra manpower on scene.
